Report July 4 Storm Damage Promptly

No funding announced yet, but reporting helps determine eligibility

If your farm sustained crop, livestock, infrastructure, or equipment damage from the severe storms that moved through Connecticut on July 4, document losses as soon as possible with photos, videos, and written records. Reporting damage promptly can help preserve eligibility for state and federal disaster assistance if funding becomes available.

Take these steps now:

• Contact your crop insurance agent as soon as possible if your crops are insured.
• Report losses to your local USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) office to learn about available disaster assistance programs.
• Notify the Connecticut Department of Agriculture of significant agricultural losses. CT DoAg uses these reports to assess statewide damage and support requests for disaster assistance.
